| Innovative decision making for a sustainable management of water |
Selecting technological systems and management strategies at policy and programme level, as well as at project level, is a complex task, asking for a conceptual and systemic approach. Nevertheless, in practice such exercises are usually carried out in a piecemeal approach, despite the international call for an integrated water management. Various challenges thus remain for integrating more ambitious approaches, which are routed, among others, in institutional and methodological issues. DIM-SUM aims at developing approaches leading to a better practice. However, rather than developing a top down procedure, the project aims at developing different approaches, and analysing their feasibility and potential as well as constraints in existing frameworks. This shall enable decision makers to choose between different approaches and tools, enabling them to improve the sustainability of their decisions.
